Kingston vs the north coast, jerk, route taxis, Jamaican dollars, and data that works when the resort Wi-Fi does not.
Des eSIMs sûres, efficaces et privées partout dans le monde
Jamaica is several islands in one: Kingston's music and mountains, the north-coast resort belt from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios, Negril's longer sunset, and a Cockpit Country interior that does not care about your wristband. English is official. Patois is the air. You will understand more if you listen twice. Jerk that still has smoke on it, a patty from a shop with a line, and Blue Mountain coffee that did not come from a gift-shop tin will teach you more than another all-inclusive briefing.
Route taxis — shared cars with the destination painted on — are how the island actually moves. Knutsford Express is the grown-up bus between cities. A first trip that never leaves the resort is a holiday. A first trip that adds Kingston for a night of music or a day in Port Antonio is a country.
Do not squash MoBay, Kingston and Negril into four exhausted transfers. Pick a coast, or a city-plus-coast pair. The mountains will still be there when you stop treating the island like a shuttle schedule.

Conseils de voyageurs
De vrais conseils de personnes qui sont allées en Jamaica, sélectionnés par notre équipe avec des liens vers les sources d'origine.
Devon's, a sound-system night, the Blue Mountains at dawn. One or two nights change what you think the island is. The north coast is a different country with the same passport.
If it does not say your destination, it is not your car. Agree the idea of the fare in JMD. If that sounds like work, Knutsford or a booked driver is the product.
Boston Bay has a reputation. A roadside drum with a queue of locals has a better one. Eat with your hands and do not ask for mild as a personality.
The minute you want a waterfall that is not on the excursion board, you want your own data. Download the Knutsford ticket and the return time.
MoBay plus Negril is a logic. Kingston plus Port Antonio is a logic. Doing all of them in a week is a transfer memoir.

Montego Bay, Kingston, Ocho Rios and Negril are linked by a booked intercity bus, not by hoping a route taxi will cross the island. Use the painted shared cars for town hops; use Knutsford when you change coasts.

A first-timer who books 'in MoBay' is often in an all-inclusive well outside town. If you want Doctor's Cave, the Hip Strip and a jerk lunch that is not a hotel buffet, you are planning rides into the actual city.

Towns and the north-coast road are usually fine. Cockpit Country, some mountain roads and pockets between villages dip. Download maps for a Blue Mountains day.
Desks exist. So do queues after North American arrivals. An eSIM at home has the driver pin up before you hit the humid air.
Only if Jamaica is listed. Island-hopping is a ferry or a flight; it is not automatic roaming.
Yes, the first time you leave the property — Knutsford, a jerk stand, a waterfall that is not on the clipboard. Lobby Wi-Fi is not a network.
Unlocked iPhone XS, Pixel 3, Galaxy S20 and newer can take a travel eSIM. Confirm the plan names Jamaica.
Forfaits eSIM
A Knutsford seat, a route-taxi argument and a pin for a yard that is not on the resort map all want data when you leave Sangster or Norman Manley. A Jamaica eSIM is online without a kiosk that opened after your bag did.
Install it before you fly. The first useful thing it does is find the transfer, not the lobby password on a wristband pamphlet.
