Hamilton to Horseshoe Bay: no visitor cars, pink buses, ferries, BMD at par with USD, and data for the timetable you will actually use.
Bermuda is not a Caribbean island that happens to wear pastel shorts. It sits in the North Atlantic, closer to the Carolinas than to Jamaica, and it refuses to rent you a car. Visitors ride pink buses, ferries, and mopeds. That single rule shapes the whole week: you plan around the timetable, not a parking lot at Horseshoe Bay.
Hamilton is the small capital with a harbour that still looks like a working port. St. George's is the older stone town, a UNESCO pile of alleys and a church yard you walk, not drive. The south shore is the postcard — pink sand that is actually crushed shell — and it is busy the minute a cruise ship is in.
Dress codes are real in some restaurants after 6pm. Sunday buses thin out. Hurricane season is a calendar, not a vibe. USD spends at par with the Bermuda dollar; do not collect a drawer of change you cannot use at home. Swim where the locals swim when the swell is up. The reefs are the point, and so is the fact you cannot 'just grab a car' when you miss the last ferry.

Buses and ferries are the trip. Screenshot the timetable the night before a south-shore beach day. A taxi for every hop will teach you what 'island prices' means without anyone saying it.
Go early, or walk toward the coves west of the main bay. The postcard shot is real. The elbow room is not, once the tenders arrive.
If you are hopping Hamilton–Dockyard–beach, a bus/ferry pass is the less annoying math. Exact change on the bus is still a local sport.
The roads are narrow, the limestone walls are close, and visitors on first-day mopeds are a cliché for a reason. If you have never ridden, take the bus.
Hamilton has the weekday energy. The old town has the stone and the harbour walk. Do not treat it as a twenty-minute photo stop from the Dockyard ferry.

Dockyard shuttles to Horseshoe run on island time, which is one hour later than Eastern Daylight. Ship clocks and phone clocks disagree, and the last beach van leaves around late afternoon. Set the watch before you join the queue at King’s Wharf.

Drivers do not make change and they do not take paper. Exact coins work; discounted tokens from the Hamilton ferry shed or the Church Street terminal are easier to carry than a roll of quarters. The private Horseshoe shuttle is a different van and a different fare.

No. You use pink buses, ferries and mopeds. That is why data for the timetable matters more here than in islands where you just hire a compact.
You can buy one. You can also land already able to see the next Dockyard ferry. An eSIM skips the counter after a transatlantic.
Hamilton and the main island corridors are fine. Screenshot the return bus time anyway — a beach with a drink is a poor place to discover the last pink bus has gone.
Some North American plans include it; many add a daily fee that adds up on a week of maps. Check before you fly. If Bermuda is not included, a travel eSIM is the calmer math.
Hotel Wi-Fi dies at the lobby door. Buses, mopeds and ferry changes happen outside. A modest plan covers maps and messages; you are not streaming from Horseshoe Bay.
eSIM プラン
Without a rental car, the next bus and the last ferry are the whole logistics problem. A Bermuda eSIM has the timetable up when you walk out of L.F. Wade, instead of hunting airport Wi-Fi after a transatlantic.
Install it before you fly. USD roaming into Bermuda is a famous way to hate a pink-sand week. Local data is how you message the guesthouse and find the Dockyard ferry without turning Hamilton into a taxi meter.
