Miss the one from Brussels Airport and take the next; they run often. Eurostar and a few express products are the exception — those need a seat.

From 19:01 Friday through the last Sunday train, a Weekend Return on domestic SNCB is roughly the price of a one-way and lets you ride any Belgian train in that window. A return Antwerp–Bruges can include a Ghent stop on the same corridor. That is not a weekday trick and not an international ticket.
