Bandar Seri Begawan: BND at par with Singapore dollars, Type G plugs, Kampong Ayer water taxis, Friday hours, and easy city data.
Veilige, effectieve en privé eSIMs over de hele wereld
Brunei Darussalam is a small, oil-rich monarchy on the north coast of Borneo that does not sell nightlife. Bandar Seri Begawan is quiet after dark in a way that surprises people who just left Kota Kinabalu. The Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque at dusk is the postcard that is also the skyline. Alcohol is not sold. Dress for mosques and for the air conditioning.
Kampong Ayer is the water village: boardwalks, school boats, and a water taxi that is a commute, not a theme-park ride. Ulu Temburong is the rainforest day — a longboat, a canopy walk, and a different temperature. You will want a car or a driver; ride-hail is thinner than in Singapore even though the dollar in your pocket is interchangeable with the Singapore dollar.
Malay is official. English is common in shops and hotels. Friday midday is for prayers and shorter hours. Pork is scarce. Ambuyat is the local starch you eat with a bamboo fork if someone orders it for the table. The South China Sea beaches exist; most visitors still spend the time in Bandar and the park.

There is no alcohol retail. Hotel rules for guests who bring their own are not a loophole tour. Eat, walk the waterfront, and go to Temburong.
Pay the boatman, watch your step on the planks, and ask before you photograph someone's laundry. The village is not a set for your drone.
Singapore dollars are accepted at par in many places. A crumpled note can still get a look. Cards cover hotels and malls.
Mosques and many shops pause. Eat before or after, and do not schedule a ministry errand across the noon prayer.
The longboat and canopy walk eat a day. Book the tour, bring leech socks if they say so, and do not treat it as a half-morning from the hotel pool.

BWN is a small field. People with an evening connection take a taxi to the Gadong night market and then stand at Omar Ali Saifuddien when the dome is lit over the water. That is the layover; Temburong is a different day.

There is no street dress code in the Western sense, but Jame’ Asr and Omar Ali Saifuddien are working mosques. Counters hand out robes at the door if you arrive ready to enter a holy place. Arrive between prayers, not at the Friday gathering.

Retail alcohol is not sold. Do not build a nightlife itinerary. Eat, walk Kampong Ayer, and go to Temburong. Data is for maps and drivers, not bar apps.
SGD is widely accepted at par with BND. Cards cover hotels and malls. A phone wallet is not the water-taxi default. Keep the eSIM for maps, not for tapping every boat.
You can. A four-day stay does not need that queue. An eSIM is online at the airport for the water-taxi jetty and the driver.
Bandar is fine. The longboat and canopy walk are not a coverage promise. Download an offline map before you leave town.
Only if the plan lists Malaysia. Those hops are close on a map. A Brunei-only eSIM dies at the border.
eSIM-bundels
Bandar is small and still assumes you can message a driver and find the water-taxi jetty. A Brunei Darussalam eSIM is online at the airport without a desk that wants your passport for a tourist SIM you will use for four days.
Install it before you fly. Maps and WhatsApp are the whole urban toolkit. Download an offline map if Temburong is on the itinerary — rainforest 4G is not Bandar 4G.
