PickMe still beats a station-forecourt negotiation when you land.

Regulars will tell you the tea-country views sit between Nanu Oya (Nuwara Eliya) and Ella, not on the whole Kandy sit. Road Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, then the reserved train south, is the usual split. Official reserved seats open about thirty days out on the railway site — midnight Sri Lanka time — and brokers exist because that window is real. Unreserved on that line is a different, hotter day.

The Tooth temple is why the city is on the map. The late-afternoon Lake Club dance, the lakeshore walk, Uduwattekelle and Peradeniya are how you fill the rest of a short stop. One shrine morning is not a Kandy day.

The stalls by the clock tower have no fixed tags. Clothing and gifts sit along Peradeniya Road toward the city limits, and Kandy City Centre has a state crafts counter. Degaldoruwa is the fresco chapel close to town if the Tooth queue is the whole morning.
