Saudi Arabia is a large country that has opened faster than most guidebooks can rewrite. Riyadh is towers and a desert capital. Jeddah is the Red Sea and a historic centre. AlUla is a trip you plan, not a detour. Distances are serious. Fly or take the Haramain where it exists; do not 'drive the kingdom' as a cute idea.
English is growing in malls and hotels. Arabic is still the street. Translation on a live phone is not a gimmick here. Dress codes are more conservative than Dubai beach hotels. Alcohol is not part of the visitor supermarket story.
Heat from May to September is a safety fact. Outdoor sightseeing is a morning and evening job. Friday prayer can pause a neighbourhood. Build slack, not a tight checklist.

Heat still owns the midday hours.

Saudi Arabia does not sell alcohol in international hotels, duty-free, or resort restaurants. Bottles in luggage have been taken at Riyadh and Jeddah. That is a different rulebook from Qatar’s licensed hotel venues or Dubai’s bars. Coffee, shisha lounges, and Riyadh Season fill the evening. Do not plan a workaround.
