Zanzibar is not a separate SIM country — it is Tanzania — but the spice island still runs on its own clock, dress code and ferry timetable.
Do not try to do the northern circuit, the mountain and a full Zanzibar week in ten days. Pick a safari block or a climb, then take the Azam-style ferry or a short flight to the island and slow down. Eat pilau, mchuzi and a Zanzibar mix; tip the crew and the guide because that is how this industry actually works.

You do not 'leave the country' for Stone Town. You take a booked ferry from Dar or a puddle-jumper. Morning crossings are calmer. Bring TZS and a dry bag; the spice tour is a farm, not a gift shop with a hat.
Crisp dollar notes still grease some park and lodge desks. Torn bills get refused. Keep TZS for water, snacks and the woman selling chips mayai in Arusha.
The crater is a half-day or a full day with a packed lunch, not a selfie stop on the rim. The descent road is one way in the morning rush. Book the permit with your operator; do not invent a DIY crater at the gate.
Routes, porter rules and park fees are regulated. Choose a company that talks about turnover and oxygen, not just a summit photo. Your phone will be a brick in your pocket above the last hut.
Cover shoulders in town. Eat at a Forodhani grill after sunset. The beaches of Nungwi and Paje are a different island — plan the transfer, do not assume a bajaji is a cross-island taxi.

Zanzibar is part of Tanzania. A plan that names Tanzania should cover Stone Town and the north coast the same way it covers Arusha — if the product page lists the country, not a mainland-only footnote. Unlocked iPhone XS, Pixel 3 or Galaxy S20+ can install it before the ferry.
Park days are maps and messages when you have a bar. Island days are heavier. Budget about 1–2 GB a day for the town-and-beach half, so 15–20 GB covers a mixed two weeks if you are not streaming every night.
